Consumers and, or buyers purchase the product, bringing it back home for the intent ofusing itintroductionthis slide identifies all the issues that my chosen productcreatesconclusionthe productsomewhat, negatively impactsthe world ascertain parts of theproduct will end upin landfill, however, there are alsoparts that can berecycled to formother productssuch as aluminiumframes and thecardboard designbriefandspecificationspart1 design briefmy chosen product, the tablet stand, is a product that will hold up devices for long periods of time, specifically for tablets, the stand allowsthe consumer to view their tablet such as watching videos, reading books or sketching. My current model allow the consumer to nothave any difficulty using the tablet stand as allit requires the consumer to do is adjust theangle and place their device on the surface ofthe standaesthetics my model looks different compared to mosttablet stands as most tablet stands look fragilefirstly, using a hack saw, i cut off asection from a round, steel rod andsawed the rod in half from the top of therod, this is so that i can make a hole andfit into it, a bolt and a duplicate of thatpart of the mechanism to act as asubstitute for the 2 frames, furthermore, ihave used a file to make the end of therod, to allow the rotation. The tablet stand contains small parts, making it a safety hazard to children as it can be swallowed.

Another use of this tablet stand is to let the consumer watch videos, present presentations or used to prop up for sketching. The gpps holder is manufactured through injection moulding where heated plastic is injected into a mould to make theshape of the holder. Similarly, it easy for theconsumer to use itmanufacturer the shipping cost of this product will be verylow as the case is slim and can be placed flatnext other stock in a container, allowing themanufacturer to package a lot of stock intoone containersimilarly, my chosen product is slim andcompact, allowing the manufacturer to fit alot of stock into one container.

asmuch pollutionwhendisposing ofmaterials andsafe to usedue toroundededgesconclusioni will be utilising my final prototype model, model 5, due to the fact that it is the lightest and most compact design i have designed, its low material consumption allowsfor a cheaper manufacturing process, in addition to this, this prototype only uses 2 durable materials, pine (softwood) and aluminium, pine is a cheap and commonmaterial to purchase and aluminium has a high strength to weight ratio, the prototype is easy to use as it is easy to use, as it is just needs the user to lift up thealuminium frame chosendesignaesthetics this prototype of my chosendesign has a simple and compactdesign, this was done to allow theconsumer to take this productwith them without having it takingup too much space in theirluggage the design is also not seen fromother existing products, makingthis design unique, as seen in thespecification, having a simpledesign will help attract the buyerand consumers attention due toits simplistic and compact designdue to its simplistic, unique andcompact design, this product is idealfor users who needs a stand that iscompatible with a range of devices, allowing them to also store it awaywithout the product consuming a lotof spaceconsumer ergonomics as this is a compact and small product, the consumer is able to travel with itand use it wherever they are and nottake up a lot of storage space as seenon my specification in addition to its compact size, itreduces the shipping costs as it can beshipped in larger quantities as all materials required to manufacturethis product is cheap, this will reducethe retail cost of the product, appealingto the consumerdue its compact size, this product createsno difficulty for the consumer when storingit away or bringing it out for use, inaddition, it will reduce the retail cost due tolower shipping costssafety size my product doesnt contain anysmall detachable parts, whichfulfils my specification, toprevent causing a chokinghazard, in case someone wereto accidentally swallow it having this prototype will allowthe manufacturer to ship moreof their product with lowershipping costs due its compactsize, as seen on myspecificationmaterialsthe main material, pine wood wasused to make this prototype as it isdurable enough to not be easilybroken, however, it is not resistantto heavy scratches and water andcould easily create any splintermanufacturing function as seen on my specification, the functionof this product must be able to hold anydevice at an angle, which it fulfils, however, it can just about hold mysamsung s6, therefore, i must fix thisflaw when making my final product in addition, this prototype allows the useto manually adjust the aluminium framewhich holds up their devices this product is easily adjustable as itonly requires the consumer to lift thealuminium frame either up or down, making it user friendlythis prototype is compatible with devicessuch as an ipad mini and other devices thatare larger in size, however, cannot supportany devices smaller than that, a problemthat i will address when making the finalmodelas of now, these are the cad drawingschosen design, that was all done usinggoogle sketch up, for the material, i washoping to use a lightweight yet durablematerialthese cad drawings are to represent what iwould want my final design to include, thiswould allow the product to be light weight, attractive, easy to store away, can be carriedaround, easy to use and able to perform itsfunction, in addition to be able to adjust theviewing angle which is an improvement frommy chosen productconsumerfor consumer use, the design is able to provide the userwith a easy to use and stable product, without having theentire product and the users device move aggressivelyback and forth through the user, tapping on their device, resting on the model, as there is neoprene strips at thebottom of the productconclusioni have chosen a design which is relativelyeasy to make and use for the consumers,in addition to this, i have made theproduct safe to use by smoothing outrough edges, not including any smallloose partsthis design is also aesthetic pleasing, being made from pine woodintroductionin this slide, i am going to cover all the features of this design that makes itmy chosen one testingmyfinalchosenmodelandresultspart1list of testing methods, that i will be conductingtestingmethodsreason why this must be conducted how i am going to conduct it how to make it a fair testimpact test this must be done so that i know whatthe effects will be if the consumer were todrop this product from a work surface, such as tableto complete this, i shall drop my chosenmodel, i will create a testing rig with themeasurements from tables at varying lengths, recording the height it was dropped at and theeffects of the fallto make this fair, i will need an experimenter tosweep my model off of a flat surface, replicatingwhat will happen if the consumer were toaccidentally drop their product from a surfacethey are working on using the standcompression testthis must be done so that i know howmuch pressure my product can withstandwhen it is stored away, such as abackpack or tight spacesto complete this, i shall put varying weights ontop of the product and analyse the effect it willhave on the modelto make it a fair and realistic test, i will placeweights that are of the similar weight to booksand place them gently on top of the productuserinteractionthis is to know whether an unknownconsumer is able to figure out what it isand what its function is, is it comfortableto hold, easy to use and is it aestheticallypleasingi am going to produce a series of questionsthat i will be asking the user periodically, asking them things like what is the function bylooking at it, etc.

The ideas are good but they dont showmuch imagination, not too intriguingwhat are your overall views on all of the initial ideas. I shall make the gapbetween the screw holes that hold the aluminium frame to thebase of the product to be thicker, to prevent the product frombreakinglist and justify any strengths the prototypesinitial ideas have. Unlike my chosen product, thiscase would attract the audiencemore than the tablet stand, this isbecause the case is available inmany different colours along withits unique design, whereas thetablet stand is doesnt offer variouscolours.

Recyclable material, can bemade into other productswithout it becoming wastedor losing any of itsproperties resistant against corrosionand weather effects suchas rain and snow high melting point, makingit hard to deform the process used tomake aluminium isexpensive and willrequire a lot ofelectricity. A-level product design coursework 2018 - The Student Room
6 Sep 2018 ... Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on what to do product design coursework on. The 3 contexts this year are a product to :

The stand must be portable toallow the consumer to use it ontheir travels, like when theyreon a plane, the train, or anyform of public transport wherethere would be a small surface. Styrofoam from snapping, i gluedon, using pva glue, an mdf board tospecification pointsfunction as time progresses, i will try to modify thefunction of the product like having my modelbeing able to hold a range of devices. PRODUCT DESIGN at AS and A2 is in many ways the natural progression for those. The ideas are good but they dont showmuch imagination, not too intriguingwhat are your overall views on all of the initial ideas, The tablet stand has a lifetime that would last until the consumer changes their tabletcost the product costs 1 from poundland, therefore, the materials used must be cheap to manufactureease of use the tablet stand requires the consumer to assemble the tablet stand in 2 steps.

It is an extremely durablematerial which has a highstrength to weight ratio. The flip cover can also change into 2angles, low and high angle. Putting together the stand is extremely easy as the aluminium frames simply slots into place to the holder, however, as thebuild quality is not perfect, it is really difficult when trying to slot the frames into one of the holes as parts of the holder havepolystyrene sticking out from the holes, obstructing the frames from being slotted into place.

I shall focus my efforts on making myproduct more ergonomic for the user and make it morecomfortable for them to usename oliver bennetage 16gender malelist and justify any strengths the prototypesinitial ideas have. The tablet stand has a lifetime that would last until the consumer changes their tabletcost the product costs 1 from poundland, therefore, the materials used must be cheap to manufactureease of use the tablet stand requires the consumer to assemble the tablet stand in 2 steps, this was done by the manufacturer so that itcan attract a wide range of consumersmaterials and components the stand is made out of aluminium. The refined materials will then be transported to the manufacture that will produce thedesign where it can be used to make prototypes of the model and, or the final product itselfin bulk, causing mass air pollution from machines that are used to make the models andcould potentially contribute to landfill if certain materials are not all used up or not enoughto make other products3. The flip cover is very easy to mass produce due to its simplicityand lack of mechanisms, allowing the manufacturer to spendlittle amount of money into manufacturing this product, spendingmore money on the quality of the materials. Unlike my chosen product, the flip coverhave more of a premium feel comparedto my chosen product as the onlymaterials used is weak plastic, rubbersponges which prevent it from slippingand aluminium frames. It looks very simple, so it wouldnt confusepeople easily on what the function of the productisthe design of this product could become veryboring after repetitive use, making the consumerwant to buy an alternative product to usethe products dull colours make the standunappealing and not eye catchingmanufacturer the feet of the tablet stand has been injectionmoulded which can be told by the low qualityproduct, which has parts of the plastic stickingout, making it quick and cheap to produceas part of the stand has been injection moulded, some parts are left uneven causing the stand towobble when it is in usecost the cost of the tablet stand is from the retailstore, poundland, therefore, this product costs apound, in addition to its basic function, theproduct is needed by consumershowever, due to its low price, the quality of theproduct and materials are low and in terms ofthe stand being user friendly, the stand does nothave the function to allow the consumer toadjust the angle from where theyre using theproduct fromoverall, this tablet stand is an okay product for its low price value as many similar products like a tablet case would cost something between 10-16, however, thoseproducts would be manufactured with higher quality materials and have a design that will attract the audience with multiple purposes like being able to protect thedevice from damage or being able to hold other smaller products like a mobile phoneintroductionidentifying the strengths and weaknesses of the tablet stand will enable me to improve on whatis wrong with the product to make it better and what could be added to make the product better comparing my product withother similar products part 1ipad mini 2 flipcoverfunction the use of this flip cover is to hold up theipad mini 2, this cover is compatible withall of the mini-series via a magnetic strip.
